Dos and Don’ts When Traveling With a Metal Free Belt

Traveling can be a breeze… or a series of never-ending lines that make boarding your flight on time feel impossible. We’ve all been there. Whether you’re a frequent flier or an occasional explorer, one item that can make  air travel easier is a metal free belt. These plastic buckle belts offer a solution to one of the most tedious aspects of flying: removing your belt to go through airport security.

However, even with such convenience, there are dos and don'ts to consider when traveling with a metal free belt. Let’s dive in.

Dos

1. Choose the Right Belt Material

When selecting a belt with a plastic buckle, choose one made from high-quality, durable materials that last while requiring minimal care and maintenance. At Arcade, we’ve chosen to construct our belt webbing from recycled REPREVE® polyester, the leading brand of recycled performance yarn, and a material that is stretchy enough to move with you while giving you a secure hold.

The belt’s webbing attaches to a metal-free, 3-piece plastic buckle that features a micro-adjustable dial to ensure the perfect fit. Its contoured shape and tapered end make for easy feeding through belt loops.

2. Test Before Travel

Just like new shoes on game day, it’s not a good idea to wear new gear when traveling. Before your trip, try on your belt while running pre-flight errands, to make sure that it’s comfortable and fits well before you get to the airport. This trial run will help you avoid any unwanted surprises during your trip.

Don’ts

1. Forget About Other Metal Items

Even though your belt won’t set off the metal detector, other items like watches, jewelry, or coins in your pockets will. Make sure to remove all other metal items to streamline your security check– because the last thing you want is to have to go through the metal detector twice.

If you’ve enrolled in programs such as TSA PreCheck or Global Entry, be sure to familiarize yourself with what layers you do and do not have to remove to go through security– although this can vary depending on the airport.

2. Neglect Belt Maintenance

To maximize your comfort while traveling, we recommend keeping your belt clean and in good condition. A well-maintained belt is less likely to cause issues during your travels– and will look and feel better in the long run.

That’s why we made sure that our belts are as easy to care for and maintain as any other item you own. Simply throw your belt in the washer and dryer with the rest of your travel day outfit– you can even keep your belt in the belt loops of your pants if need be!

Traveling with a non metal belt makes the journey through airport security faster and more convenient. By keeping these dos and don’ts in mind, you’ll be able to focus more on your trip and less on the hassles of travel.

But don’t think that you’ll want to ditch your belt when you get to your destination! Our metal free belts are constructed from performance stretch and feature our A2 buckle that feeds and releases while conforming to your body. Built with your comfort in mind, they’re a reliable ally for all of your adventures.
